Sedation Dentistry
We understand that some patients may experience a great deal of anxiety during a visit to the dentist. We also understand that this anxiety may cause individuals to avoid dental care entirely, which can lead to dental and other health complications down the road. To ensure that each patient has a comfortable, anxiety-free, and painless dental experience at our office, we are pleased to offer sedation dentistry.
Who is a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?
Candidates for sedation dentistry are individuals who experience high anxiety, who fear dental care as a result of a traumatic or painful experience in the past, who have a sensitive gag reflex, or have a limited time to undergo dental care. Sedation dentistry can be used while a patient undergoes a wide variety of dental procedures. These range from simple procedures such as dental examination, X-rays and cleanings to restorative procedures such as fillings and crowns (caps). Extractions, root canal treatments implant placement are often accomplished while the patient is comfortably sedated. Virtually any dental procedure can be provided for a sedated patient.
